It seems that it was only a matter of time before a national retailer broke into the rapidly growing Washington state pool and spa market. Phoenix based, Leslie’s Poolmart, Inc, the “The World’s Largest Retailer of Swimming Pool Supplies” has acquired AquaQuip Pools and Spas. The swimming pool giant now operates over 900 retail locations in 37 states with the acquisition of AquaQuip which added 9 retail locations throughout the Puget Sound/Western Washington area to the companies already enormous footprint.
At this time Leslie’s plans to keep the AquaQuip brand along with most of the staff, employees, vendor mix, and product mix. Leslie’s has been known to enter new markets through acquisition buy buying independent, regional brick and mortar retailers as part of its growth strategy. This is exciting news for the pool and spa industry as consolidation continues on both the manufacturing side and retail side of the industry.
