Who is OC Hot Tubs? Are they a good brand or manufacturer? We’ve set out to answer this question and more about the quiet brand found through Costco online.
First and foremost, OC Hot Tubs is a division of LMS Inc. out of Pomona, CA. LMS is better known in the hot tub industry for their other, more popular brand, Cal Spas. The Cal Spas brand has been sold exclusively thru a nationwide independent dealer network for 40 years. The brand has been considered by the industry as a “sizzle” brand offering all of the latest and greatest technology and innovation. The Cal Spas brand is also robust offering four distinct lines of hot tubs and swim spas and over 30 different models, hitting every budget and price point. It appears the OC Hot Tubs brand was created as an exclusive brand for Costco and sold online only. From all of our research, we could find very little marketing and promotion of this particular brand outside of Costco. The only semblance of information on OC Hot Tubs is a very bare bones website that pales in comparison to your more premium brands including LMS’s own Cal Spas website.
Furthermore, the offering seems to change from time to time but as of writing this article there are five models available. They range from smaller 2-3 person hot tubs up to 6 person hot tubs and are priced between $5000-$6500. These spas tend to be an even better value when Costco runs a promotion which provides additional discounts or rebates. It’s hard to compare the quality difference between the Cal Spas and OC Hot Tub brands as they seems to share a lot of similarities in features and design. One could almost assume that they are virtually the same spa but with a different label. What we can compare are some of the pros and cons of buying an OC Hot Tub versus a Cal Spa.

- Costco has a very member friendly return policy so if you are unhappy with quality, performance, or service then you can return it for a refund
- Can be a great value especially if you buy during one of Costco’s promotions
Cons of buying an OC Hot Tub vs Cal Spa (or other premium brand from an independent dealer):
- The brand is sold online through Costco.com so you aren’t able to see the hot tub in person to make sure the fit, finish, and quality are up to par
- It can be a hassle is you don’t like it for any reason because you will be responsible for returning it back to a local Costco warehouse for a refund
- Limited color choices available. Typically one shell color option and one or two cabinet options.
- Shorter warranty and no local dealer support.
- Limited Features and no customization options.
