Hot tub maker, Master Spas, based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has announced it will spend approximately $15 million dollars to purchase and build out a former plastics facility (Fort Wayne Plastic Inc) at 510 Sumpter Drive. When completed the new facility, positioned adjacent to Master Spas current manufacturing facility, will add over 150,000 square feet and 6 acres to the already existing 300,000 square feet and 27 acres. The combination of the two facilities will create a campus that is over 450,000 square feet resting on 33 acres. This strategic growth plan is set to make Master Spas the largest swim spa manufacturer in the world. The expansion will house the company’s marketing, engineering, design, research and development, and manufacturing operations. The move will allow increased production of hot tubs at it current manufacturing facility and also create more parking for its growing employee base.
Master Spas currently has 450 employees and plans to add 100 new jobs by 2021. The new jobs will include line workers, training staff, maintenance support, engineers, software developers, warehouse staff, and quality control positions. As many as 80 of these jobs could be added in the next year.
The expansion also comes with some nice perks from Allen County and the IEDC (Indiana Economic Development Corporation) which has offered over half million dollars in conditional tax credits.
Started in 1996, Master Spas has over 300 independent dealers and service centers throughout the North America and Europe. The company manufacturers hot tubs and swim spas including a Michael Phelps endorsed line by the 23 time gold medalist.
